PC Basketball Games

Published by techspotlight at 2:05 am under Computers Edit This

As I am a PC gamer, I have always liked sports games the best.  Basketball primarily, but I do enjoy Tennis and Golf games.  For the Basketball lover, I have come up with a list of three of the best.

  1. Freestyle Street Basketball
This is a MMO (Massively Multi-Player Online) hoops game.  This is strictly an online game and you must log-on via the software.  You can play 1-on-1, 2-on-2 or 3-on-3 halfcourt ball.  The graphics are cartoonish, but you get to outfit your baller with your choice of clothes.  The gameplay is very fun and there are a variety of moves you can do, depending on the position of your player.  While the game is free, you can purchase “bills” which allows you to get more moves and better clothes.  Overall rating is an A.
  2. NBA Live 08
You control actual NBA players in a 5-on-5 full court match.  Includes commentary and a very good implementation of the courts.  The graphics and sound are phenominal.  The most realistic to date.  Extra features are playing seasons, player trades, player injuries and taking your team through the playoffs.  This is mainly a single player game, although you can connect directly via an IP address.  For the diehard fan who wants to control their favorite player, this game is perfect, but due to the lack of support for easy multi-player games, I must give it a rating of B.
  3. Backyard Basketball
In this basketball game you control a very cartoonish kid, replicated as a pro player.  It is somewhat comical and amusing.  All NBA teams are available, with unlockable arenas and players.  Make your own season, complete with standings and statistics.  The movement and control of the players, isn’t the best, and I would rate this a C.
