Darius Miles Suspended For 10 Games Without Pay

Darius Miles of the Boston Celtics is suspended for the first 10 games of the 2008-2009 NBA season without pay.  The NBA commission announced on September 19th that Miles violated the terms of the Anti-Drug program at the end of the 2007-2008 season.  His violation involved phentermine which is typically prescribed for individuals who are at increased medical risk because of their weight and works by helping to release certain chemicals in the brain that control appetite.

Miles the 6′ 9″ small forward was traded to Boston last season by way of the Portland Trail Blazers.  He has also played for the Clippers and Cavaliers.  His career averages are 47% field goal shooting, 10.6 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game.
