Pistons Pull Off Monster Trade For Allen Iverson

Published by techspotlight at 12:10 am under Denver Nuggets, Detroit Pistons, NBA, Teams Edit This

Late Monday afternoon the Detroit Pistons announced they have traded Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess, Cheikh Samb for superstar guard Allen Iverson of the Denver Nuggets.

Joe Dumars, the President of Operations for the Pistons was quoted as stating:

“We are pleased to welcome Allen Iverson to the Pistons organization.  Allen has proven he is one of the elite players in the league and we like what he adds to our roster at the guard position.  We appreciate everything that Chauncey Billups, Antonio McDyess and Cheikh Samb brought to the organization during their time here in Detroit and we certainly wish them all the best.”

Allen Iverson is a 12 year veteran of the NBA and has achieved some incredible individual statistics such as 60 points in one game against the Magic in 2005, 21 field goals made in a single game in 2002 against the Rockets and AI has accomplished 9 steals in a single game twice during his career.

This move by Detroit to some is being considered a risk, but I could see this move coming after 3 failed attempts to make it to the NBA Championships with basically the same roster each year.  I think it is a bold and gutsy move by the Detroit franchise that will probably serve them well.
