Orlando Pummels Hornets On Christmas Day
Starting off the 5 game barrage of NBA basketball games on Christmas was the New Orleans Hornets against the home team Orlando Magic. Too the surprise of many, the Hornets appeared lifeless and got beaten down bad. The Magic took control early and completely dominated the whole game winning with a final score of 88-68.
Chris Paul who holds the record of 108 consecutive games with a steal, couldn’t muster up one, and the streak got stopped. Byron Scott the head coach of the Hornets seemed very peeved and removed his starters early in the fourth quarter.
Dwight Howard was honored by the stadium giving away over 17,000 Superman T-Shirts to the fans in attendance, and he proved his dominance by scoring 12 points with 15 rebounds and 3 blocked shots. He currently is the leader this season in rebounds per game and blocks per game. Hedo Turkoglu was the high man for the Magic with 20 points and Rashard Lewis was right on his tail with 18 points. Mickael Pietrus led the bench players with 11 points on 4 for 8 shooting.
The Magic are playing excellent ball this year and they have a record to back it up. They are one of the more exciting teams to watch in the NBA and are going to try and make a run in the Playoffs against the dominant Celtics and Cavaliers. Whether they have all of the pieces to surpass the 2 elite teams in the Eastern Conference is yet to be determined.
