76ers Send The Pistons To 8th Seed

The Allen Iverson-less Detroit Pistons went into the Philadelphia 76ers house and could not hold their lead, where the Sixers trampled them down the stretch to come away with a win.  The final score was 95-90.  It was also announced that AI would not play any more games the rest of the season.  With the Chicago Bulls beating the New Jersey Nets, this drops the Pistons to the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference.

The top three scorers for the 76ers were Andre Iguodala with 31 points, Andre Miller with 21 points and Lou Williams with 15 points.  Philly shot the ball ok at 48% and were even more impressive on the defensive end, holding Detroit to 38% field goal shooting.  Overall so far, Philadelphia has had a great year especially since the injury to their key signing player, Mr. Elton Brand.  The 76ers improve their record on the season to 40 wins and 35 losses.

Number 7 And 8 Seed In The East Face Off

The visiting Detroit Pistons faced off against the number 8 seeded Chicago Bulls on Tuesday night.  It wasn’t a very exciting game due to all of the star players out due to injuries.  It was pretty close throughout the night but the Bulls pulled ahead by double digits in the fourth quarter and never wavered from then on.  The final score was 99-91 with Chicago taking the win, and they are now only 1 game behind Detroit for the 7th seed spot.

The top three scorers for the Bulls were Kirk Hinrich with 24 points, Ben Gordon with 19 points and Tyrus Thomas with 18 points.  The level of team play exhibited by the Bulls was fantastic as all of the starters ended up in double figures.  The only other player that scored was Brad Miller who contributed 7 points off the bench.  Chicago improves their record on the season to 34 wins and 38 losses.

Wade’s 39 Points Stun The Pistons

The Miami Heat and the Detroit Pistons faced off against each other on Sunday afternoon.  The Pistons without three of their stars including Allen Iverson, Rasheed Wallace and Richard Hamilton, played extremely well and kept the lead the whole game until the 2 minute mark when Mr. Wade hit two free throws.  It was a battle for the Heat to overcome but they did it, and they came away with a road win with the final score ending at 101-96.

The top scorers for the Heat were Dwyane Wade with 39 points, Jamario Moon with 17 points, Udonis Haslem with 16 points and Jermaine O’Neal with 14 points.  At the present time, it looks like the trade with Toronto is working out rather well.  Miami is currently in fifth place in the Eastern Conference, fighting to stay in the upper half of the Playoff rankings.
